For anyone wanting to learn to dive our Club Instructors can take you through the BSAC training Structure from Ocean Diver to the most advanced level (with theory, pool and open water lessons). Please note we do not currently train anyone under 18 years of age, but you can still contact us and we’ll try to help you find someone who can.
For checking the qualificaction routes on the BSAC progression chart follow this link. progression-chart-2024-no-mab
For example once you complete your Ocean Diver training you would then be able to dive to 20m.
It’s then natural to move onto the Sports Diver qualification – which increases your depth limit to 35m once you’ve undertaken depth progression dives.
You can then think about furthering your dive qualification by looking at progressing to Dive Leader, and then Advanced Diver. More information is available of the BSAC website.
The one thing about learning with a club rather than a school is that there is no pressure to finish because a school is looking at their next course. Things are done where necessary at your pace and when the instructor is comfortable that you’ve mastered the skills in the pool.
We don’t take any trainees into open water until both the trainee and the instructor is comfortable that the skills have been completed. The open water elements are undertaken in the UK.
The other good thing about a club is that there are many members who can advise on diving, equipment, equipment configurations, dive sites, wildlife, etc., so being a member of a club does have considerable benefits.
Another advantage of doing your SCUBA training with BSAC is that rescue skills are progressive and integrated within its’ normal training programmes.
Having said that there are additional Skill Development Courses that you can do within the branch, and at Regional and National level.
